C-DOT and Qualcomm Join Forces for Atmanirbhar Bharat, Paving the Way for Innovation in Telecom with ‘Design and Make in India’ Vision

In a significant stride towards achieving the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India), the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. during the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. This strategic partnership aims to drive innovation, support India-based developers and startups, and strengthen the country’s telecom ecosystem.

The collaboration underscores C-DOT’s commitment to stimulating India’s telecom landscape by leveraging Qualcomm’s expertise and cutting-edge technologies. Qualcomm Technologies will provide support in terms of best practices, state-of-the-art technology, intellectual property training, and tools to facilitate the development and commercialization of indigenous telecom products by startups, academia, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Key Objectives of Collaboration:

  1. Facilitate access for startups, OEMs, and academia to foundational chip technologies and domain experts, stimulating innovation and scaling up R&D efforts.
  2. Accelerate the commercialization and business development of Indian startups engaged in building indigenous telecom products and solutions.

Speaking on the collaboration, Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman of Digital Communications Commission and Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, highlighted India’s role in driving innovation. He expressed pride in the nation’s cutting-edge research and reiterated the commitment to the government’s ‘Design in India’ and ‘Make in India’ vision.

Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, emphasized that the collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies is a crucial step toward unlocking the vast potential of Indian R&D, fostering a vibrant ecosystem of startups, and paving the way for indigenous telecom solutions.
