Election Commission Announces Commencement of Nomination Filing for Phase 1 of General Elections
New Delhi, March 20, 2024
This morning marked the initiation of the nomination filing process for the first phase of General Elections following the issuance of a Gazette notification by the Election Commission of India (ECI). A total of 102 Parliamentary Constituencies across 21 States and Union Territories (UTs) are slated to go to the polls in this phase on April 19, 2024.
The deadline for submitting nominations in Phase 1 is March 27, 2024, for all States and UTs except Bihar, where the deadline is extended to March 28, 2024.
The Gazette notification issued by the ECI encompasses constituencies from a diverse array of regions, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.
As the electoral process gains momentum, prospective candidates are urged to adhere to the stipulated deadlines and guidelines provided by the Election Commission to ensure a smooth and transparent election process.
