Prime Minister’s Excellence Award 2023 Scheme and Web-Portal Launched to Recognize Outstanding Public Administration Achievements

In a significant development, the Scheme and Web-portal for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2023 were officially launched on 8th January 2024 at 11:00 AM by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances. Principal Secretaries (AR)/(IT) and DCs/DMs of all States/UTs were invited to join the Launch ceremony through VC.

The registration process on the PM’s Awards web portal has commenced, enabling due registration and submission of applications. The portal will be operational from 8th January 2024 to 31st January 2024.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PM’s Excellence Award has undergone a transformative change since 2014, emphasizing Constructive Competition, Innovation, Replication, and Institutionalization of Best Practices. The revamped Award Scheme now aims to recognize the performance of District Collectors through targeted individual beneficiaries and implementation with a saturation approach.

The applications for Awards will be evaluated on three key parameters: Good Governance, Qualitative and Quantitative achievements, with a focus on holistic development, rather than just quantitative targets.

All districts are encouraged to participate in the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2023, reinforcing the commitment to good governance and public service.

Categories and Recognition for 2023:

  1. Category 1: Holistic Development of Districts under 12 priority sector programmes. (10 awards)
  2. Category 2: Innovations for Central Ministries/Departments States, Districts. (6 awards)

The evaluation process involves short-listing by a Screening Committee, followed by evaluation by an Expert Committee, and finally, review by an Empowered Committee. The Prime Minister’s approval will be sought based on the recommendations of the Empowered Committee for the Awards.

The prestigious PM’s Awards 2023 will include a Trophy, Scroll, and a significant incentive of Rs. 20 lakh, allocated to the awarded District/organization for the implementation of projects or programs, contributing to public welfare. This initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to excellence and innovation in public administration.
