Ayodhya Airport Granted International Status and Renamed “Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham”
New Delhi, January 5, 2024: In a historic move, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to designate Ayodhya Airport as an International Airport. The airport will now bear the name “Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham,” paying tribute to the revered sage who authored the epic Ramayana.
Recognizing the economic and spiritual significance of Ayodhya, the decision to elevate the Ayodhya Airport to international stature is a pivotal step towards unlocking its economic potential and promoting its global prominence as a pilgrimage destination.
