Jammu and Kashmir Youth Delegation Meets President During ‘Watan ko Jano’ Program

A youth delegation from Jammu and Kashmir, participating in the ‘Watan ko Jano’ program, had the honor of meeting the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 25, 2023.

Addressing the delegation, President Murmu emphasized that the ‘Watan ko Jano’ initiative aims to acquaint the youth with the rich diversity of the country’s art, culture, civilization, and ongoing development projects. During their journey, the delegates experienced firsthand the linguistic, cultural, and lifestyle diversity within the nation, emphasizing the underlying unity that strengthens the country.

President Murmu highlighted the unprecedented progress in the development of Jammu and Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370. She commended the collaborative efforts of the Government of India and the local administration, utilizing technology for effective governance and digital transformation. More than 1100 government services are now available online, promoting transparency and efficient service delivery for the benefit of the public.

Expressing optimism, President Murmu noted the aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth to integrate into the national mainstream. Despite challenges from vested interests, the government’s investments in infrastructure, technology, and education are paving the way for the region’s progress. President Murmu encouraged the youth to capitalize on the developmental initiatives, steering clear of negative influences and focusing on a bright future.

Emphasizing the democratic opportunities available, President Murmu urged the youth to believe in the system and advance with dedication and hard work, steering clear of drugs, anti-social elements, and negative influences. This, she emphasized, would open new paths of progress in their lives.
