DoT Cautions Citizens About Malicious International Calls Intending to Instigate Panic

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), under the Ministry of Communications, issues a cautionary advisory to citizens regarding potentially harmful incoming calls from international numbers. These calls falsely claim intentions to disrupt India’s stock exchanges and trading, with the objective of creating panic. Anti-national elements are believed to be behind these malicious calls.

In response to this threat, the DoT has instructed all telecom service providers to block calls originating from such numbers. Citizens who encounter such calls are strongly urged to report them promptly to the Department of Telecommunications. Reports can be submitted via email at help-sancharsaathi[at]gov[dot]in or through their respective telecom service providers. Vigilance and cooperation from the public are crucial in addressing and curbing the impact of these malicious activities.
