Karnataka COVID-19 Update: 229 New Cases, 62 Discharged, and Zero Deaths on December 31, 2023
In the latest COVID-19 report released by the Government of Karnataka on December 31, 2023, the state has recorded 229 new positive cases, with 62 patients successfully discharged, and fortunately, no new fatalities reported.

Testing Statistics:
In the last 24 hours, the state conducted 3,527 COVID-19 tests, out of which 2,972 were RTPCR tests and 555 were RAT tests.
Positivity and Fatality Rates:
The positivity rate stands at 6.49%, and the case fatality rate remains at 0.00%, reflecting the state’s continuous efforts to manage the pandemic.

District-wise Breakdown:
Bengaluru Urban reported the highest number of new cases with 64, contributing to a total of 1,888,121 cases. Meanwhile, several districts showed varying numbers of new cases, discharges, and deaths.
Whole Genome Sequencing Details:
As part of the genomic surveillance efforts, Karnataka has sent 247 samples for Whole Genome Sequencing since December 15, 2023. The results of 60 sequences have been received, detecting variants such as JN.1 (57%), XBB (30%), and others (13%).
