Ministry of Education Introduces “PRERANA” Experiential Learning Program with Online Registration Portal

The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, has launched the ‘Prerana: An Experiential Learning Program.’ This initiative aims to provide a meaningful and inspiring experience for students in classes IX to XII, fostering leadership qualities. The program aligns with the principles of the Indian education system and the value-based education philosophy outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Prerana is a week-long residential program held in Vadnagar, Gujarat, at a Vernacular School established in 1888. Rooted in the timeless wisdom of India’s rich civilization, the program embodies nine value-based themes, including Swabhiman and Vinay, Shaurya and Sahas, Parishram and Samarpan, Karuna and Sewa, and others. The curriculum, prepared by IIT Gandhi Nagar, integrates these themes to inspire youth and foster respect for Bharat’s unity in diversity.

The participants, a batch of 20 students (10 boys and 10 girls) selected from across the country, will engage in yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions, along with experiential learning and hands-on activities. Evening activities include visits to ancient and heritage sites, inspirational film screenings, mission life creative activities, talent shows, and more. The program, guided by mentors from prestigious institutions, seeks to imbue the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

Students interested in participating can register through the portal, prerana.education.gov.in. The selection process involves a thorough evaluation of applicants’ well-rounded personalities through various activities based on Prerana’s ethos. Upon selection, participants will embark on a transformative journey, carrying the ethos of Prerana into their communities as change-makers and positive influencers.

To be part of this ambitious and aspirational Prerana program, students in Class IX to XII are encouraged to visit prerana.education.gov.in for registration.
