PM Modi Commemorates ‘Veer Bal Diwas,’ Highlights India’s Resolve and Youth Opportunities
New Delhi, December 26, 2023 – Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ program at Bharat Mandapam, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to remembering and drawing inspiration from the exemplary courage of the Sahibzadas. The event unfolded on the occasion of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal,’ marking a new chapter for India.
In his address, the Prime Minister reflected on the significance of ‘Veer Bal Diwas,’ symbolizing an unwavering attitude to protect Bhartiyata (Indianness). He recalled the valor of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his four Sahibzadas, asserting that their bravery continues to empower every Indian. PM Modi emphasized the celebration as a tribute to the mothers who gave birth to courageous individuals, recognizing the sacrifices made by families like Baba Moti Ram Mehra’s.
Expressing satisfaction that ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ is now celebrated globally, PM Modi highlighted India’s evolving perspective on its heritage. He noted that India, shedding the mentality of slavery, now has confidence in its capabilities, inspiration, and people. The Prime Minister affirmed that India is recognized internationally as a land of opportunities, playing a pivotal role in global issues.
PM Modi reiterated his call, “Yahi Samay hai Sahi Samay Hai” (This is the right time), stating that the next 25 years will showcase India’s capabilities. He urged citizens to follow the ‘Panch Pran’ (Five Principles) and capitalize on the tremendous opportunities that lie ahead. Stressing on the significance of youth power, he credited the success of Indian athletes to initiatives like Khelo India, emphasizing the government’s commitment to youth welfare.
The Prime Minister outlined the vision for the next 25 years, emphasizing the importance of becoming the third-largest economy. He assured that this transformation would benefit the youth with improved health, education, opportunities, jobs, and overall quality of life. PM Modi encouraged youth to register on the MY-Bharat portal, calling it a significant institution for the young generation.
In addressing the youth, PM Modi highlighted the importance of health and proposed ground rules for physical exercise, digital detox, mental fitness, adequate sleep, and a balanced diet. He addressed the issue of drug abuse, calling for a collective effort from the government, religious leaders, and families to combat this menace. The Prime Minister concluded with a reminder of ‘Sabka Prayas’ (Everyone’s Effort) and the teachings of our Gurus, envisioning a developed India.
The program was attended by Union Ministers Smriti Zubin Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Anurag Singh Thakur. As part of the ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ initiative, various programs, digital exhibitions, and online competitions will be organized nationwide to educate citizens, especially children, about the courage and sacrifice of the Sahibzadas. This initiative was announced on the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on January 9, 2022, designating December 26 as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ to commemorate the martyrdom of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji.
