Empowering Women in the Workforce: Historic Joint Event by Ministries to Launch National Standards for Crèches and Promote Gender Equality

In a significant stride towards empowering women in the workforce, the Ministry of Women & Child Development and the Ministry of Labour & Employment are set to host a joint event titled “सक्षम नारी सशक्त भारत – Women in the Workforce for Viksit Bharat” at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi tomorrow. The event, chaired by Union Ministers Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani and Shri Bhupender Yadav, will witness the launch of pivotal initiatives aimed at fostering gender equality and women’s participation in various sectors.

One of the highlights of the event is the official release of the ‘National Minimum Standards and Protocol for Crèches (Operation and Management)’ by the Ministry of Women & Child Development. This initiative, developed in consultation with the Ministry of Labour and Empowerment, is poised to revolutionize childcare facilities in the country, offering comprehensive support for children aged 6 months to 6 years.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment will also release an advisory urging employers to promote gender equality and enhance women’s workforce participation, contributing to the overarching goal of women-led development. Furthermore, advisories from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will address women’s workforce participation and safety in the building, construction, and highways sectors.

The event, graced by distinguished dignitaries including Sh. Indevar Pandey and Ms. Arti Ahuja, Secretaries of the respective ministries, promises to be a milestone in shaping the future of women’s workforce participation in India. Keynote addresses by Union Ministers Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani and Shri Bhupender Yadav will conclude the event, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for women-led development.

As the nation focuses on achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat during Amritkaal, this event marks a crucial period for advancing women’s participation in the workforce. The initiatives, particularly the National Minimum Standards for Crèches, align with the broader goal of promoting and supporting the Care Sector, reinforcing the commitment to a self-reliant and empowered nation. This event signifies a pivotal step towards empowering women and fostering inclusive growth in India.
