In a decisive move against entities involved in anti-India activities, the Ministry of Home Affairs has officially declared ‘Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir (TeH)’ as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) 1967.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, highlighted the outfit’s engagement in forbidden activities aimed at separating Jammu and Kashmir from India and establishing Islamic rule. The group is accused of disseminating anti-India propaganda and perpetuating terror activities to fuel secessionism in the region.

Shri Amit Shah, in a statement on ‘X’, emphasized the zero-tolerance policy against terrorism under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership. He declared that any individual or organization found involved in anti-India activities will be promptly thwarted.

The primary objective of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir (TeH) is to achieve the separation of Jammu and Kashmir from India and establish Islamic rule in the region. The organization has faced numerous charges, including fomenting terrorism, spreading anti-India propaganda, and promoting secessionism in Jammu and Kashmir. These activities are deemed prejudicial to the sovereignty, security, and integrity of India.

Several criminal cases have been registered against Tehreek-e-Hurriyat under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act, RPC, and IPC. The government’s declaration underscores its commitment to safeguarding the nation against any elements threatening its unity and security.
