Vice-President Commends Collective Effort in Abrogating Articles 370 and 35A, Emphasizes Development Delinked from Partisan Interests

Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, praised the collaborative efforts of the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary in the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, terming them as impediments to democratic governance. He regretted his inability to attend the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology’s convocation due to adverse weather conditions.

Addressing the Biotech Startup Expo on “Emerging Startup Trends in North India” in Kathua, Shri Dhankhar highlighted five fundamental parameters for national growth: peace, equality of law, transparency in governance, meritocracy-favoring ecosystems, and women’s empowerment. He emphasized that these parameters are now the reality in India.

Shri Dhankhar noted the positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir, where sections previously denied their rights now have a stronger voice in governance. With Article 370 no longer part of the Constitution, he stated that Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s dream has become a reality. The Vice-President cautioned against politics hindering progress and appreciated India’s biotechnology advancements, emphasizing the importance of nurturing a robust research ecosystem.

While congratulating Sher-e-Kashmir University’s graduating students, Shri Dhankhar expressed regrets for missing the convocation due to rerouting caused by adverse weather. Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
